“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our
sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
(1 John 1:9)
It is important to know that until we can truly forgive ourselves for
our sins, we cannot forgive others for theirs. We need to come to a place
of peace and love for ourselves before we can do the same for others. If
you are harboring regrets and shame for something you may have done, you need
to forgive yourself now. Give your burdens, your sins, your regrets and
your worries all to God. Remember, Jesus died on the cross for us and our
sins. We have been forgiven by God. That does not mean we don’t continue
to ask for forgiveness; because we will continually sin. It’s our
nature and God knew that; He wanted the best for us so He gave up His only Son
to give us eternal life.
Stop
beating yourself up for past regressions, mistakes, crimes of the heart, or
whatever you are harboring deep within your soul. Ask God for your
forgiveness and it will be done! Allow that pain to be released and know
in your heart of all hearts that you are forgiven. You don’t have to be
forgiven by those you may have offended. One day they too will understand
why you did what you did, what you were feeling, what you going through that
may have impacted your actions, and then they too will have wished they had
forgiven you. And in the meantime, God is all you need to feel at peace
and loved. He is unconditional love!
